Unapologetically me.

This reminds me of the Ashlee Simpson album I used to listen to in my teens; even though that album I’m talking about is called Autobiography. That tittle intrigued me to one day write my autobiography and get it published one day. Though that is still a way to go and a dream of mine, I still have the privilege of writing this blog, post on my platforms, and show those that know me or that don’t, pieces of me.

One thing that I’m thrilled to share is that I’ve stopped feeling like I have to apologize for: my opinion, my faith, my hopes, my dreams, my looks, my things, how I vote, and anything that is positive in my life, controversial, or that goes against the grain of culture. I am done apologizing, and even though I probably never verbally apologized, I’m basically just saying I’m done thinking it.

Just like White Chicks’ Tiffany says, “well you were thinking it”.

I know that there are plenty of other people that have thought out felt the same way too. I am here to tell you, Stop! It’s not worth it to hide your best qualities, especially when it comes to what you believe in. I’ve learned that people don’t want you to do better than them, they want to pull you down and keep you there right where they are. I thought this was just in the Mexican culture, but I’ve seen many cultures do that as well. That’s why I’ve trained myself and try to catch myself to cheer on my fellows, specially cheering on my girls, young and older, boss babes, hard working women.

Speaking of women, we come from generations and generations of ancestry of being second human since the beginning of time. We have so much history books and history in the bible to prove this true. The attack on women is not in politics how we currently think, but it is way more than that. It is a supernatural battle that is a talk for another time.

It is time though to stop apologizing for being feminine, tomboy gals too. We have tried so hard for centuries to not be characterized for heels and lipstick but now culture is making that okay for males that wear heels and lipstick to be called more feminine than women. There just comes a time we draw the line and stand up for what we believe is trying to erase being a woman.

Without going too much off track and not to sound political but simply being aware and vigilant of our value as people and in society, it brings me back to the fact that women need to stop being afraid of having a mind of their own. Yes, I know we think we already do, especially when we can have good debates with others about things; argument with men, we are passionate about. But please, don’t be afraid to say what you have to say in controversial topics because I know a lot of you hold back with fear of “offending” someone. Guess what? You will always offend someone by saying or not saying it. Hold ground and be you, not what society and pop culture is swaying you to be

xoxo,

Me
